Fighting to Protect Missouri Families from the Misdiagnosis of Child Abuse.
Our mission is to protect Missouri families from wrongful or negligent child abuse allegations resulting from medical misdiagnosis or the misinterpretation of medical findings, while strengthening the systems designed to protect children.
We seek to:
1. Protect Families and Children
Protect children, parents, and caregivers from unnecessary investigations, family separation, and lasting harm when an injury, illness, or medical condition is mistakenly attributed to abuse.
2. Promote Medical Accountability
Advocate for thorough and objective medical evaluations, appropriate differential diagnosis, qualified second opinions, and accountability when medical findings are uncertain, disputed, or have reasonable non-abusive explanations.
3. Strengthen Child Abuse Investigations
Promote fair, evidence-based investigations in which serious allegations of abuse are supported by thorough, objective, and medically sound evidence.
4. Advocate for Legislative Reform
Work toward Missouri laws and policies that protect children while preserving the rights of parents and caregivers, particularly in cases initiated by medical findings or medical opinions.
5. Protect Missouri’s Child Welfare Resources
Help ensure Missouri’s limited child welfare resources, including caseworker time, funding, court resources, and services are focused on children who are truly experiencing abuse or neglect and need state intervention to remain safe.
6. Support the Protection of Children
Recognize that child abuse is real and devastating. Our mission is not to weaken legitimate child protection efforts, but to strengthen them by helping ensure interventions are accurate, justified, and focused on children who genuinely need protection.
Through education, advocacy, and legislative reform, we seek a system that protects children, preserves families, respects due process, promotes medical accountability, and uses Missouri’s child welfare resources responsibly.
